Junkers Ju 87 "Stuka”
Ju 87 Stuka, Croatia
Resting beneath the clear waters of Croatia lies one of the most iconic aircraft wrecks in the Adriatic — the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka. Famous for its distinctive shape and wartime history, this aircraft is a rare and powerful reminder of aviation’s past.
Diving this wreck is an unforgettable experience. The aircraft remains remarkably recognisable, with its wings, fuselage, cockpit area, and unique profile still visible on the seabed. Surrounded by the blue water of the Adriatic, it has become both a historical time capsule and an artificial reef, where marine life now moves around a machine once built for war.
For my Wet Wings project, the Stuka represents exactly what this journey is about: documenting underwater aviation wrecks across the world, preserving their stories through photography, and showing how history and nature slowly merge beneath the surface.
